The seminar for CSO in Paracin

Two –day education “Strengthening the capacities of Civil Society Organisations” was held in the premises of the local community “Gloždak” in Paracin, on December, the 5th and 6th, 2013. It was intended for members of the organisations who are engaged in work with persons with disabilities from Paracin. The education was held within the project “We care, we act” - Boosting initiatives for strengthening inclusiveness and pluralism of the society towards persons with disabilities and their families which is financed by European Union within the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), with the support of Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. The education’s objective was to strengthen and help CSO in providing assistance to persons with disabilities to fight for and exercise their rights.

The participants of this education were members of different CSO from Paracin, volunteers engaged in work with children with mental disabilities in primary schools and employees from Day Care Centre in Paracin. They had the opportunity to get to know each other better, to exchange the experiences of their organisations’ functioning, as well as to network experts and volunteers from different fields in order to enhance further work with persons with disabilities. The organisations should network and make agreement on developing the strategy of joint action. The issues related to launching services in the community were of great importance, and some of the themes were: the legal framework, the ways of financing, creating projects’ proposal, services’ licensing, minimum standards in providing social care services, etc.

The atmosphere on the seminar was both, pleasant and working, everyone was feeling good and free to ask about all the doubts they have encounterd in their work. The participants have also showed great interest in themes which were discussed and great pleasure for having the opportunity to participate in such kind of education.
