Practical training for car painters and hairdressers

In Secondary Vocational School within the project “Knowing better, doing better” - support to the educational inclusion of young Roma, the implementation of four-month craft programme is in progress. The programme itself is created in such manner so that well established theoretical basis intensify practical work and gaining of new skills in practical work, in order to make our students trained in certain timeframe as well as they gain competitiveness in the labour market. On the following photos we want to share with you a part of work and cheerful atmosphere of our friends during the practical training. The beginning of trainings for hairdressers, car painters and florists

To our great pleasure and satisfaction of our students, with the beginning of the second school semester, in Secondary Vocational School, the training program for hairdressers, car painters and florists began to implement. The training programme which is implementing within the project “Knowing better, doing better” is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, and gained certificate is recognized by the National Employment Service. That gained title has its competitiveness in the labor market is evidenced by the data on achieved employment opportunities within the bakery and car tinsmithing business. The predicted programme lasts 4 months and includes theoretical and practical part. The project “Knowing better, doing better” is funded by the European Union, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia within the programme "Support to the social inclusion of the most vulnerable groups, including Roma, through more diversified community-based social services”.

The ceremony of awarding cerificates

Within the project „Knowing better, doing better“ there was a ceremony of awarding certificates on sucessfully completed professional training in the field of bakery and car tinsmithing. The project is funded by the European Union, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia within the programme "Support to the social inclusion of the most vulnerable groups, including Roma, through more diversified community-based social services”. St Sava celebration in Secondary Vocational School was attended by large number of students and trainees from the project programme, and attendees were addressed by teachers, director and one of representatives from Rakovica Municipality who all wished them good luck in further education and life. During previous months included Roma students have worked very hard and tried to acquire as much knowledge as possible and besides theoretical training they acquired their skills in bakery facilities and car tinsmiths’ workshops. Also, we are happy that we can share with you the fact that the most hardworking students got a job offer in the field of their profession. Taking the final exam

During previous months young Roma, who are included in educational system through the project “Knowing better, doing better”, had worked hard in order to gain skills but also title in the field of car tinsmithing and bakery. On this occasion we have attended the taking of final exam where students have, once again but through check, consolidated acquired knowledge and skills. We bring you a part of photos and atmosphere from the final exam. Preparations for the final exam

Within the project "Knowing better, doing better!" - support to the educational inclusion of young Roma, the preparations for final exam for training for baker assistant and car tinsmith are in progress. The project is funded by the European Union, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia within the programme "Support to the social inclusion of the most vulnerable groups, including Roma, through more diversified community-based social services”. During past months, participants have worked hard and gained theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the selected area, so this week is reserved for knowledge consolidation and preparation for the final exam. Practical training for car tinsmiths

In Secondary Vocational School within the project "Knowing better, doing better!" - support to the educational inclusion of young Roma, implementation of four-month course for car tinsmiths is in progress. The project is funded by the European Union, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia within the programme "Support to the social inclusion of the most vulnerable groups, including Roma, through more diversified community-based social services”. During previous months, through theoretical and practical part of education, participants have developed relevant skills and methods to perform the job of car tinsmith. Besides training for car tinsmith, during this semester, participants have the opportunity to improve themselves in bakery. With the beginning of next semester participants will be able to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of car tinsmith, horticulture/ gardening, as well as hairdressing skills.

The Opening Conference of the project “Knowing better, doing better"

In the municipality of Rakovica, on June, the 16th 2016, the Opening Conference for the project “Knowing better, doing better”- support to educational inclusion of young Roma was held. The project is funded by the European Union, the Delegation of European Union in Serbia, within the programme “Support to the social inclusion of the most vulnerable groups, including Roma, through more diversified community-based social services”. The conference was opened by State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, Nenad Ivanišević, who is also the president of the Council for improving the position of Roma, underlining the significance and importance of the adoption of the national strategic framework for improving the situation of the Roma community, particularly through economic and social inclusion. Guests were addressed by the member of the Municipal Council of Rakovica, Novica Barjaktarović , underlining the efforts made by the Municipality in the integration of Roma population in the community. Milorad Janković, the Deputy President of the Municipal Assembly of Obrenovac, said that in his municipality live a large number of Roma people, which representative he is, and that he has a desire to encourage his fellow citizens to actively participate in the implementation of project activities and take advantage of the opportunities that this project offers. Milovan Marković, director of "Secondary vocational schools" and Goran Rojević , president of Humanitarian organization "Child's Heart" talked about the implementation of specific project activities and the opportunities available to young Roma. Mrs. Ivana Rojević in front of the Humanitarian organization "Child's heart" once again reminded of the importance of education and the process of involvement of the young Roma in the educational system, and therefore the community, which will ease the way towards employment and reducing the rate of unemployment. The Opening conference "Knowing better, doing better" was completed with the projecting a short film promoting the educational profiles of Secondary vocational school. In order to once again remind us that the overall objective of the project is social and educational inclusion of young Roma for better access to the labour market and employment opportunities.

Knowing better, doing better

Dear all,
It is our pleasure to inform you that the project "Knowing better, doing better!" - support to the educational inclusion of young Roma, started with the implementation on December, the 22nd 2015 and will last for the next 20 months. The project is funded by the European Union, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia within the programme "Support to the social inclusion of the most vulnerable groups, including Roma, through more diversified community-based social services”. The project holder is humanitarian organization "Child's heart", and partner in the project is Secondary Vocational School “Petar Leković”, which will jointly participate in the planning and the implementation of project activities.
The overall objective of the project is to support the social and educational inclusion of young Roma for better access to the labour market and employment opportunities, while specific goals are reflected in the following:
• Increasing and stabilizing the presence of young Roma in the education system through the implementation of craft education programme
• Providing support to educational institutions for better integration of young Roma in the education system
The main activities of the project "Knowing better, doing better " are reflected in the following:
• Mapping young Roma (18-30 years old), which are not included in the education system
• Motivating and training young Roma parents on how to engage their children in the education system as well as their support in this process
• Training and sensitizing teachers on the issue of discrimination against Roma and the inclusion in the education system
• Creating and implementing the craft programmes (hairdresser, car tinsmith, car painter, baker, florist) for young Roma
• Developing and integrating the programme "Life skills' School" to craft programmes in order to improve social skills of young Roma
• Developing and adapting teaching materials (in Serbian and Roma language) within craft programmes for young Roma
• Employment of at least 5 Roma in private companies
